Sweet Nothings by M (“we”, “us”) is a small home bakery in Rosemont, Illinois. This policy covers the website at www.sweetnothingsbym.com and the emails we send from it. We only collect what we need to make and deliver your order, and we never sell your information.
What we collect
- Contact details: your name, email address and phone number.
- Order details: what you order, the date you need it, the occasion, any allergy or dietary notes, and promo or gift card codes you use.
- Drop-off address: only if you choose local drop-off.
- Photos you send: inspiration photos attached to an order or a message.
- Messages: anything you write to us through the Contact page or a “Message me” button, and our replies.
- Payment status: whether an invoice or class booking has been paid. We do not see or store your card or bank details (see “Payments” below).
How we use it
- To review, price, make and hand over your order, or to hold your spot in a class.
- To email you about your order: your request copy, confirmation, invoice, booking details and any questions we have.
- To reply to your messages.
- To keep the business records we need for accounting and taxes.
We don’t send marketing emails, and we don’t use your information for advertising.
Payments
Cookie orders are paid through an invoice from Intuit QuickBooks, and classes are paid at checkout through Square. You enter your card or bank details on their secure pages, not on our website. They handle that information under their own privacy policies (Intuit, Square). We receive your name, email, what was paid and whether the payment went through.
Where your information is kept
Orders, messages and photos are stored in the bakery’s private Google account (Google Sheets, Google Drive and Gmail), which only we can access. Invoices are kept in our QuickBooks account and class payments in our Square account. We share your details only with these services, which we use to run the bakery, or if the law requires it.
Cookies and your browser
We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don’t use analytics. The website saves a few things in your own browser so it works smoothly: the items in your bag, the settings it last loaded, and a note if you’ve entered a site password. These stay on your device. Fonts on the site come from Google Fonts, so Google sees that your browser loaded them, under Google’s privacy policy.
How long we keep it
We keep order records for as long as we need them for accounting and taxes, and messages and photos for as long as they’re useful for your orders. You can ask us to delete your information at any time, except records the law requires us to keep.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we have about you. Just send us a message and we’ll take care of it.
Children
Our website is meant for adults placing orders. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update it here with a new date at the top.
